Developmental Coach Training

This is in an effort to increase workforce credibility and provide much needed self care!

The important part of the education is that is written for peers specifically (social workers are attending too).

• We are in the process of getting the hours approved for MCBAP(Michigan Credentialing Board of Addiction Professionals) certifications.
• Once the course is completed you will have triple the amount of educational hours needed for most board certifications.
• We will help you find opportunities to get your work (or volunteer) hours needed but make no guarantees on that.
• We will however be able to offer a reference for those that have completed the program and have demonstrated an ability to help people reach their goals of a quality of life improvement, whatever that looks like!

Dates and times of classes will vary and you will have multiple opportunities to take them.

* Note the credit of $500 for those that have already taken the 5 Day CCAR.

We are requiring you take any other CCAR or other trainings again (unless it’s been 6 months or less since you completed it) as the trainings are updated continuously and we think it’s important info as well as to be with the class for the entire program. – Participants have one year to complete.

The program is designed to support Coaches with frequent, in-depth interaction with myself and Clyde Sims as well as the other Coaches in the group.

The next session starts in June and consists of the following:
CCAR 5 day Recovery Coach Academy
CCAR 2.5 day Ethical Considerations For Recovery Coaches
3 day Recovery Coaching a Harm Reduction Pathway (LeMire Group)

Plus 48 hours on various peer workforce related topics(listed below)

The 48 hours are offered twice a week, every other week from 8am to 12pm. In other words we repeat the Tuesday class on Thursday, so people can choose. It lasts 24 weeks and is 12 sessions total. It’s a total of 114 hours of education.

What sets this apart from other development plans, is the 48 hours of group interaction.

Calendaring and Professional Communication

Part of coaching is role modeling so it is imperative we make and keep appointments, which means being familiar with the many types of calendaring software programs available.

Communication in any field requires basic knowledge of professional language and appropriate methods. Both of these topics are covered in this training to either, learn them, or to demonstrate you already know them, in an effort to create workforce credibility and competency.

ACE’s – Adverse Childhood Experiences

Childhood trauma or Adverse Childhood Experiences can lead to mental health issues and addiction later in life. Most particularly unresolved trauma.

While less was known about the specific correlation in decades past, today we have a pretty good understanding of just how damaging adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can be on development and coping.

This training provides a foundation for Recovery Coaching and for further education. The topic of “staying in your lane” is also discussed and demonstrated.

Grief and Grieving

As a Recovery Coach Specialist, you may find your self witnessing grief and grieving from the helper perspective or from your own personal loss perspective.

These two will have different responses. This training helps delineate what is appropriate and healthy in each.

Topics are what to say, how to identify feelings and understanding the stages of grief.

Learn the ART of documenting to accurately record a person’s progress and satisfy charting needs.

The very essence of a peer-based relationship is trust. Many jobs today depend on the information that is reported by a coach.

Your ability to maintain the connection and report required information is an art. An art that can be taught and this course will help facilitate the process.

The Recovery Coach Specialist Course is here to stay! ART Of Coaching wants you to be the BEST Coach you can be.

Firstly we have created a 126 hour curriculum that will help you learn what you need to know to thrive as a coach. In addition, we cover how achieving a professional wage is accomplished. Also, how we effectively help people achieve a greater quality of life. Secondly we have also made relationships with employers in the field of addiction recovery. Furthermore this will help you seek and secure employment! In addition to providing you with weekly job coaching support to help you get the 200 hours of experience needed.

This Recovery Coach Specialist Course begins with the CCAR 5 Day Recovery Coach Academy. In addition to the 3-Day A Harm Reduction Pathway, and the ART Of Curiosity & Motivational Interviewing training. In addition and after that pay as you go and take the remaining courses at your convenience. Furthermore you’ll have as much time as needed to complete the plan.

ART of Recovery Oriented Systems Course

Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, typically referred to ROSC can be widely interpreted.

The focus on a Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) approach is to look at the barriers to treatment and discover solutions. Although the concept is focused on the implementation of Recovery Supports, recovery oriented systems of care can be implemented in the intitialization of treatment, during treatment and after treatment.

We will also learn what the Recovery Community looks like.

Curiosity & Motivational Interviewing Course

This 8 hour training builds on a Recovery Coach’s ability to have casual meaningful conversations based on curiosity.

We will focus on motivational interviewing and actively listening as means to have productive conversations using the ART’s 9 different languages.

We also talk about how MI Trainings for Recovery Coaches are much different than those designed and written for clinicians. The main difference is that we share our story to help connect.
